The Lab is known for its friendly, amendable and extroverted nature. It is a highly trainable breed of dog that was primarily bred as a working gun dog. The Labrador Retrievers that I have met are just the right height where drinks on the coffee table are at risk by an errant wagging tail – watch your red wine! When taking one of these dogs for an off leash walk in a nearby park it showed just how much it loves to swim when it noticed some ducks in a nearby creek and pond. Before we noticed the ducks the lab was off to the races – leaping into the pond and swimming after the ducks. I am happy to report that no ducks were injured. And the lab had a great time swimming and barking (to show how happy it was). If you meet a lab you will see why it is one of the most popular dogs there are.
