Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Dog Breed

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel gained popularity in the 1700’s because of their close relationship to King Charles II. They served as companions and lap dogs for the wealthy for many, many years.

Size and Appearance

This small breed of dog stands 12 to 13 inches (31-33 cm) and weighs 13 – 18 pounds (5.5 to 8 kg).

They are attractive with large, round eyes, long floppy ears and a full muzzle. They have a long silky coat that comes in several colors and patterns including: Red; red and white; black and tan, or tricolor.

Personality and Temperament

This is a highly friendly, affectionate dog that is easily trained. If you are relaxing on the couch you can be sure that your dog will be on your lap or nearby.

They are not aggressive and are quite good with older children. They are a playful dog that enjoys games, walks and participating in events like agility and flyball.
