Boxer Dog Breed

The Boxer Dog Breed is one of the most popular dog breeds
The Boxer Dog Breed is considered a working dog breed and has steadily grown in popularity over the past 100 years. It has become a popular family dog as it is an instinctive guardian that loves to be with its family. The Boxer is known for being patient, friendly and energetic with children that it knows. This may come as a surprise given its powerful and imposing physical appearance.

The boxer is distrustful of strangers and should be well trained and socialized. They are energetic and need plenty of exercise as they are eager to work and play. A boxer does not need a large yard as most of its exercise comes from play and work with its owner. So you can’t just leave your boxer in the back yard and expect that it is getting enough exercise.

The boxer was developed in Germany in the 19th century and has been used as a war time courier, as seeing eye dogs, as police dogs, as large game hunters and, unfortunately, as fighting dogs (a cruel practice that I hope will one day be totally eliminated).

A boxer is just a medium sized breed but it is stocky and muscular. They stand between 21 and 25 inches (53-63cm) and weigh 60-70 pounds (27-32kg). They have short coats and are easy to groom. Their most distinctive characteristic is the head. It is featured by a square muzzle, strong jaws and a noticeable underbite. The ears are thin, a medium size, and lie flat
